Who We Are

Welcome to Dark Water Danes. We are committed to producing quality black and blue Great Danes that not only adhere to the breed standard, but also exhibit exceptional health, temperament, and longevity. We strive to produce happy, healthy Danes of sound mind and body who are first and foremost members of the family. Whether they are show, performance, or pet, each one enriches our lives with their love and companionship.

Dark Water Danes has relocated from Florida to California, and we currently reside in the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Nevada in Northern California.

Our Danes are a part of our family and live with us in our home. We breed thoughtfully planned litters for ourselves designed to improve, and occasionally have puppies available to approved homes.

Health Testing

The Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) is a joint initiative of the Canine Health Foundation (CHF) and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) that helps manage genetic disorders in dogs. It’s a centralized database of canine health information that supports CHF researchers working to reduce inherited diseases, works with a breed’s parent club to set breed-specific health testing requirements, issues certifications to qualifying dogs, and aids breeders and puppy buyers in making informed decisions.
