Forever Homes
We strive to find permanent, happy homes for all of our puppies. If for any reason you cannot keep your Dark Water Danes puppy for the duration of his or her life, you are required by contract to return him or her to us. Selling or re-homing your Dark Water Danes Great Dane without our written authorization is a direct breach of contract.

About Our Puppies
All of our puppies are raised in our home with our family and are exposed to the sights and sounds of the day to day activities of an active household. We raise our puppies with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Puppy Culture protocols to give them the best possible start, and believe this type of upbringing benefits puppies for their lifetime. All of our puppies are also started on basic house, potty, crate, and leash training prior to leaving our home.
Your puppy will be ready to leave mom and littermates at the age of 8 weeks. Puppies go to their forever homes with AKC registration paperwork, puppy contract, microchip, health certificate, collar and leash, toy, blanket that smells like mom, initial supply of food, and complete medical records.
Please note, we do not crop our puppies or remove dewclaws. If you wish to crop, please discuss this with us as you will need to be ready and able to perform ear aftercare and have an experienced veterinarian lined up well in advance of bringing home your puppy.
AKC Registration
Puppies are sold with limited registration to approved forever homes as pets/companions with a spay/neuter contract in place. Limited registration allows your puppy to compete in companion and performance events such as obedience, rally, agility, barn hunt, and scent work, but precludes your puppy from showing in conformation dog shows. This is because the purpose of conformation dog shows is to evaluate how closely a dog adheres to the breed standard in order to measure his or her suitability for breeding. This is also why mixed breeds and spayed or neutered purebreds are ineligible to compete in conformation. Any puppies produced from a limited registration would also be ineligible for registration with the AKC. An exception to our limited registration policy may be made for a select number of puppies should several qualifications be met by both the puppy and the buyer. The puppy would need to meet specific AKC breed standard characteristics and exhibit potential for a successful show career, and the buyer would need to be actively involved in showing and have some level of experience with the breed in order to be approved for a show-quality puppy.

Placing Our Puppies
We perform reference checks on all perspective puppy homes.
Once you take your puppy home, you are required to complete a 6-8 week puppy class prior to your puppy turning 6 months of age. This helps provide continued socialization and basic obedience, which can strengthen the bond between you and your puppy and help prevent unwanted behaviors down the road. It is especially important in the development of a well-rounded giant breed puppy that may outweigh you once grown. We are happy to help locate a training facility near you if needed.
We devote significant time and effort to carefully planning and raising our litters, and we take the placement of our puppies very seriously, with puppies only going to approved homes. Every attempt is made to ensure each puppy is matched to an appropriate home that is willing to make a lifetime commitment. We reserve the right to refuse a puppy to any home we feel is not a suitable match.
